Can I get a refund?
It is possible for a refund to be arranged.
If a refund is actioned on your request then the Organiser of the collection will need to be advised of this. Please note this will affect the total value of the GroupGift so the Organiser will need to be across that change in totals.
How long will it take to receive the funds from my collection?
It can take up to 2 business days to receive the funds from GroupGift.
Please consider this when setting up your collection.

What is GroupGift?
GroupGift is an website service that was created to improve the process of collecting money from a group. Using our secure online service you can invite friends to contribute to a collection. Using the invitation, friends can go online and use their credit card to make a contribution and leave a message for the gift recipient.
The money collected can then be used to buy a present by the organiser or sent directly to the gift recipient.
Who is GroupGift?
GroupGift is a 100% Australian owned online service that facilitates the collection of money for a group gift.
How does it work?
You can set up a collection for yourself or for a friend.
The steps are:
- Register on the website
- Set up the collection page
- Invite your friends via our system, via email or facebook
- Track contributions – you’ll receive notfications everytime someone contributes
- Withdraw the money at the end or when you’re ready
- Go shopping for great gift
How much does it cost to use GroupGift?
To set up a collection it is FREE
Each contributor pays a small transaction fee. This covers the cost of all banking, credit card charges and customer support.
A service fee of 5% (with a minimum charge of $0.49 or maximum charge of $5) is applicable on all contributions – As we say – “less than the cost of a card”.
Pricing examples
- If you contribute $5 to a collection you will be charged $0.49
- If you contribute $10 to a collection you will be charged $0.49
- If you contribute $20 to a collection you will be charged $1.00
- If you contribute $30 to a collection you will be charged $1.50
- If you contribute $50 to a collection you will be charged $2.50
- If you contribute $100 to a collection you will be charged $5.00
- If you contribute $200 to a collection you will be charged $5.00

How long will it take me to create a GroupGift Registry?
Setting up a GroupGift should take you no longer than 5 minutes. Our aim has been to setup a facility that saves you time and is user friendly. We will guide you the whole way through.
How safe is GroupGift?
Our site has SSL 256 bit encryption to ensure the “organisers” and “contributors” data is safe and secure. All credit card information is processed via a third party payment provider. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Statement for further information.
All contributions are held in a secure bank account at GroupGift. We will transfer the funds directly to your nominated account when you make a withdrawal request or convert your collection to a GroupGift eftpos gift card or a Red Balloon Voucher.
How will my friends find out about my GroupGift?
Your friends will be invited in one of four ways;
- Via GroupGift (you will load all the emails into our system creating your own address book that you can reference time and time again)
- Via GroupGift – For ease you can upload a csv file
- Via an email (you copy and paste a unique link to your collection)
- Via facebook

What are the payout options for a collection?
At the moment money can be sent directly to an Australian bank account – The funds transfer can take up to 2 business days and there is no charge for this.

Can I choose a combination of payout options?
Currently the only payout option is cash to an Australian bank account.

When can I collect / withdraw money from my GroupGift account?
You can collect/withdraw money from your GroupGift account whenever you have funds in the GroupGift.

Why is GroupGift different to other registries?
GroupGift is a simple payment platform designed to make collecting money easy. GroupGift doesn’t lock you in to a particular retailer or gift. The choice is up to the “organiser”. They may buy whatever they want, whenever they want…on or offline.

What personal information do I need to give GroupGift?
As an ” organiser” of an account you will need to leave basic personal information that is kept securely on our site. When you collect your funds you will need to nominate an Australian bank account that you will have your GroupGift funds transferred in to.
As a “contributor” to a GroupGift you will need to leave basic personal information that is kept securely on our site. In order for you to leave a contribution you will need to enter your credit card details. We are SSL 256 bit encrypted to ensure data is safe and secure. All credit card information is processed via a third party payment provider.

When should I set up / send my GroupGift?
In our experience you should setup and send out your GroupGift notification to your group of friends when the event is being organized. So if you’re organizing a party then we recommend invitations be sent 3-4 weeks prior to the party date, so send out your GroupGift request at the same time.

How will my friends find out about my GroupGift?

What is the access code?
The access code is created by the organizer of the collection. It allows those invited access to the collection and ensures that the collection messages, amounts and contributors remain private.

How will my contributors contribute if they don’t get the original email invitation and want to contribute to a GroupGift?
You can add people to your collection at any time. Just go to your dashboard and use the Manage Invites function.

How will I get to the GroupGift if I have trouble with the link?
If you have trouble with the link provided in your invitation, you can search up the collection on the home page via the “Find your collection” function. You will need the access code, which can be provided by the organizer of the collection.

When does my collection finish?
When you set up a collection you nominate an end date for the collection. So if you nominate an end date of 10 May, contributions can be accepted up til 11.59pm on that day.
At any time you can extend the collection by going to your dashboard and editing the page.

When should I end my collection?
It takes approximately 2 business days for funds to be transferred. So this timing should be considered when setting up your collection.

When will GroupGift remind friends to contribute?
When you invite friends via GroupGift we will remind them to contribute 7, 3 and 1 days from the end date of the GroupGift. So for example if you nominate that the group collection will end on the 10th day of May, then on the 3rd, the 7th and the 9th of May we will remind your friends to contribute. Once they have contributed they will no longer receive reminders.

How will I know who has contributed to my GroupGift?
You will receive a notification via email every time a contribution is made to your collection.

Can my contributors elect to anonymously contribute money?
Contributors can elect to conceal their contribution value on the GroupGift published page. The “organiser” will know how much they have contributed but this information will not be available to other contributors.

Can friends and family overseas contribute to GroupGift?
Yes. Both local and international credit cards are accepted at GroupGift.
